Believing in the Dream (And Yourself)
Close your eyes. Picture your life in five years. What does it look like?
What about in ten years? Can you see it? Can you see where you will be? What you will be doing? Do you see all the details? Every tiny little element?
I am a big fan of vision work. If you can’t see something then how can you work toward it? The imagination is an amazing thing and when we use it, it is incredible what can happen. There are studies upon studies that show the power of the mind over things like emotions, the physical body and disease.
When you believe that something is possible, you are engaging your imagination. And that’s fantastic. But it’s only the start.
So many women I’ve talked to and worked with over the years follow a similar pattern:
-
They get really excited about a vision of an aspect of the life that they want, a job that is perfect for them, the home of their dreams.
-
This dream gets them motivated for a short period of time - they enthusiastically work on a project, taking steps to get closer to their dream.
-
They get caught up in the day to day grind, the constant need to make things happen and keep the plates spinning. They lose sight of the goal because the details of the day demand prominence.
-
Getting lost in the everyday, they fail to see HOW their dream will happen. How they will find the time. How they will overcome the challenge. How they will scrape together the money. How they can ever be that brave.
-
They put their dream on the shelf, chalking things up to “well, if it’s meant to happen, it will” and stop any forward progress.
-
Once they see that they are not reaching their goal, they give it up as a pipe dream.
The HOW is not important. It’s the WHY and the WHAT that matter most. But as women who make things happen, we get stuck in that vortex of needing to understand HOW everything will happen. We crave the ability to see each and every step before it happens so that everything makes sense.
But there’s a reason that people like to say “Hindsight is 20/20” - It’s not until you’re well past the situation that you can look back and see exactly how everything fit together and turned into the reality that you live out each day.
You can’t just believe that it COULD happen. There is a deeper work that has to occur. A deeper knowing. An innate sense so absolute that it’s practically a piece of you. A vital piece.
Yes, Hindsight is 20/20. But in a few short weeks, we’ll be kicking off the year 2020. Could this be your year? I believe it could be. In fact, it’s a deep part of myself. I believe in you and your abilities and your dreams. And I believe that you can make those happen this year.
That’s why I’m launching PROJECT: 20/20 on December 10. A year-long program that will help you make serious progress on your dreams. I have 20 spots available for women who are ready for more in their lives. I also have 10 of those spots marked for women who want to attend an in-person retreat in June.
There is a TON of value in PROJECT: 20/20 but I don’t have enough space in a blog post to tell you all about it. So, head over the to program page, put in your email and get the entire program book that dishes out all the goods.
Believe in the dream. Believe in yourself. Believe it will happen, even if you don’t understand how.
